Dragonfly Box: 199? - Gilman School
Here's another piece of walnut, but this time with a mahogany base. The walnut is the lid, which must be shifted to the side and lifted off. Underneath are the two sides of the box connected by more walnut. Each side contains a red felt-lined, hinged-lidded compartment. The hinges are mortised and hidden under decorative blocks of walnut. There's also a piece of walnut acting as a stop block on the other side. Each lid has a finger scallop, so you can pick it open. The little dragonfly on the locking pin is just glued together scraps of pine stuck on a nail.
