Athame: 2003 - Home Shop
This is my first attempt at knife making. It's a Wiccan athame, which is used for cutting herbs and drawing in sand in some Wiccan ceremonies. The blade is 3/16" steel with a ring welded on the end. I cut it out with a reciprocating demolition saw and shaped the blade with a disc grinder/sander. The handle is ebony, in accordance with athame's traditionally black and white handle. There is also a decorative glass lens attached to the back of the blade, which went with my strange thinking at the time. The handle was supposed to be inlaid with aluminum welding wire, but it looked too nice plain to break up the surface.
