Forged bowl: 2004-SAIC Shop

This was my final project for the blacksmithing class I took at the School of the Art Institute my first year in Chicago. The teacher showed us how to make a steel bowl by placing a disk on top of a big metal tube section. To start we scored a line in a circle that marked the edge of the bowl and then pounded the center down into the tube. Once I had and even dish I had to think of something more to do to it, so it could stand on it's own, so I made 3 "T" shaped cuts into the lip and bent the tabs down to form legs. I like the result, except that one of the legs is shorter than the others. Oh well, first time.
