Stool: 1999 - CMU Shop
The assignment here was to make a stool from a limited amount of wood (only four components total), joined at right angles. It would have been a good assignment if it wasn't in an environment which stifled creativity more than it inspired it. The last model is what I would have done without restrictions on materials and joint angles. This was also the project in which the teacher recognized my affinity towards complexity and detail, and suggested that this is something I should try and suppress. I can't remember exactly how he put it, but the way he said it was incredibly insulting and I should have kicked him in the head or at least set his office on fire.
