Toolbox: 2001 - CMU Shop
This was our second project for furniture class. The assignment was to design and build a container. Since I have a long tradition of building small, mostly useless boxes, I decided to make a toolbox for designers. Many of the compartments are sized to fit design tools, like spray cans, sandpaper, and other design model making tools. I made the overall proportions a bit too big, so I would never be able to lift it if it were full, so I suppose it would be better to call it a tool chest. The most interesting part is the handle/latch/feet, which I designed in SolidWorks. I'm not really sure how the latch would fail if overloaded, but it works well enough when empty.
