Tic Tac Tome: 2011 - ThinkGeek
My first book! I started this book in the weeks after I was hired at ThinkGeek. I didn't have the right software set-up yet and they didn't really know what to do with me, so I glommed onto a very vague idea that Hans & Ty had been bouncing around - a choose your own adventure book of tic-tac-toe. Like many of their ideas, it was totally formless, so I had to figure out how something like that could become a product. I made a huge map of possible moves and the correct counter-moves. It got easier once I had a proper layout & 'groked' how different solutions would appear in the game. There's really only about 6 stalemate situations, which can be rotated & mirrored to make more, and NO - there is no way to win at tic-tac-toe. The final product can be 'played' from front or back, the player or 'computer' making the first move respectively. To make it a bit more interesting I chose a random page to have a glitch on it where the computer makes the wrong move, so you can win. The cool thing is that if you play one side of the book against itself, you end up hitting that page! Totally awesome coincidence :)
